She holds a Ph.D. in Science and Engineering from the Department of Environmental Sciences and Social Infrastructure, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Saitama University, Japan. She also holds a M.Phil. in Geography from University of Colombo and a B.Sc. (Honors) in Town and Country Planning from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
